What we do

Practical support, delivered with dignity

When a patient from a remote valley is referred to Skardu for hospital care, a family member almost always travels alongside them—often for days or weeks. Commercial accommodation expenses quickly become an unbearable burden at a time when household resources are already stretched by medical bills.

SWF’s Patient Attendants’ Shelter Home provides free, dignified lodging for families and attendants accompanying patients. A clean bed, basic amenities and a supportive environment ease the practical and financial strain of seeking medical care away from home.

The shelter is a vital link in our healthcare support model, working alongside our Ambulance Services and Patient Care programmes. Donor contributions cover utilities, bedding, sanitation, maintenance and everyday facility operations.
